Week 15 : Before and After

Before and after.

So many fun ways to interpret this weeks theme!

The main interpretation was a picture straight out of camera (SOOC) and then the edited version.

Editing can be a whole other world of things to learn and master. Because it's another thing you need to add to your list of things to learn about photography, it can be tempting not to bother doing it, or slap a cool preset on and call it a day.  However, editing your images is an important part of the photography journey. I actually have nothing against presets. I use them. I love them. But I think it’s really important to know what those presets are doing. This way you can tweak them and use them to create your own unique style.

Editing also gives you another chance to get it right. You can remove distractions. Sometimes you have a setting wrong (I’m the worst when it comes to set it and forget it). You didn’t quite capture the mood/vibe you were going for. Sometimes what you capture in camera might not accurately reflect that moment.  You can enhance a mood in processing that you will perhaps never really be able to fully capture in camera.

In the end it’s all about you and how an image makes you feel.
