Week 20 : Black & White

This group is getting more and more talented every week!! I loved every single image!  I think this might be my favorite week! I do have a partiality to black and white images and here are some reasons why I love Black & White.

Black and white allows you to think about some key elements (lighting and composition to name a few) that you might otherwise not focus on as much when you’re thinking about making colors work together, or pop.

You’ll focus more on the direction, quantity and quality of light around you.  Learning how to read and play with the different characteristics of light is a great skill to have.

Black and white photography provides wonderful range between the deepest blacks and the whitest whites. Clothes, makeup, or bright backgrounds are no longer distracting. These things really help to put the focus on your subject.

I love the complete timeless quality of black and white.

I know you are going to enjoy this week as much as I do! And if you'd like to join in the fun go here, https://www.facebook.com/groups/Our52/

The incredibly talented Jaquelyn Marie's post needed to be featured in it's entirety 20/52 Black & White This is where I have been having my morning coffee now that the weather is nice. I sit on these concrete steps and watch my dogs run around. I take the time to look around the yard and play back all the old memories I have had there. The raspberry bushes that run rampant and would be turned into the best raspberry jam, thanks to my Grammy. The blueberries blooming that have produced the sweetest fruit in all the land for as long as I can remember (and before that too I’m sure). The spot where all the veggies grew and were always in competition with the veggies that grew in my own fathers garden, friendly competition never hurt anyone. The flower beds that Pa didn’t care too much for but he kept them around because Grammy loved them. The walkway that leads to the back door which was the only way any of us ever came through even though the front door worked just fine. These concrete steps are not the most comfortable place for sitting but they are most definitely comforting me each morning as I drink my coffee and watch my dogs run around. This is a reminder of all the memories that have passed and a reminder of how grateful I am to be making new memories here each day.
